Employment Law
Drawing on over 20 years’ experience, Franklin guides employers through sensitive employee-related challenges. He is recognised for his experience at senior management and at board level and particularly on sensitive board and senior executive matters.
Franklin advises on all aspects of both contentious and non-contentious employment law matters. These include contracts of employment, executive service agreements and employment policies, employee representation and trade union disputes, general protections, dismissals, redundancies and discrimination, restrictive covenants, transfer of business and outsourcing. He regularly handles Fair Work Commission work and conducts litigation.
Franklin also advises and works closely with employers conducting investigations whether disciplinary, or related to discrimination, or health and safety.

Native Title Law
Franklin’s 20 years of native title experience encompasses native title corporations, corporate and government sectors. He was a senior executive in the Commonwealth government leading the operations of the National Native Title Tribunal. In this role Franklin oversaw the management of the Tribunal’s internal operations and statutory responsibilities for the registration of native title claims and Indigenous Land Use Agreements. Franklin was CEO of two native title corporations, both accredited in Australia as Top 5 for their governance. With experience extending beyond Australia, he assisted First Nation groups and resource companies in British Columbia.
Franklin advises native title and respondents parties on all aspects of native title matters including native title and compensation claims, overlapping disputes, future act and heritage matters, negotiating benefit sharing agreements, development and implementation of governance structures and managing cross-cultural negotiations and intra-community issues. Clients appreciate Franklin’s considerable insights and unflappable, calm and highly astute and attuned manner in what are often highly pressurised and politically contested situations.
